Welcome

Chief Brian Uhl

Welcome to the Ashwaubenon Public Safety Department homepage. I am proud to serve alongside the men and women who are uniquely qualified to provide Police, Fire, & Emergency Medical Services to our community.

We are one of only about a dozen agencies across the United States that provide all three public safety functions. By contrast, there are over 17,000 law enforcement agencies and almost 30,000 fire departments in the U.S. Your public safety officers are highly trained and have received certifications in law enforcement, firefighting and prevention, emergency medical technician, and many have their paramedic licenses.

What this means for our community is that your first responder is trained to help with almost any public safety or emergency need. For example, the officer who responds in their law enforcement role is qualified to treat a medical emergency so they do not have to wait for the ambulance to arrive in order for you to receive emergency care right away. These skills reduce response times and save lives when time is of the essence.

Our Department is made up of 56 public safety officers, 25 paid on call firefighters, and 10 civilian employees. We have members who are involved as school resource officers, the Brown County SWAT team, the Brown County mobile field force team, police K9, drug task force, gang task force, investigations, fire inspections, records, community service officers, and an evidence technician/property manager.

It is my honor to represent the men and women who have dedicated their lives to serve this department and this wonderful community. If you would like to be part of our family, please look for employment opportunities under the “Employment" icon on the top of our village webpage.

Respectfully,

Brian A. Uhl
Chief of Public Safety
