Q. Do I need a “special” license or tag to hunt?
A. Not a “special” license. However, hunters must use their own Wisconsin issued deer tags and license to hunt in their yards or someone else’s yard with permission. You can get a deer hunting license at most sporting goods stores, at the DNR office, or on the DNR website.
Q. Who would a hunter using a bow-arrow/crossbow need to notify in the Village?
A. A hunter must get permission to hunt in Ashwaubenon from any property owner that has a permanent structure which can be used for human occupancy within 50 yards of his/her hunting spot.
Q. Do I have to register a deer if I am successful?
A. You must register the deer, as you would any deer, as this is part of the WI deer season hunt. However, the Village of Ashwaubenon would also like you to call the Park & Recreation offices at 920.492.2331 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know if you shot a deer within the Village boundaries. We are asking this to see how successful this program is or if the plan needs modification. When reporting, we would like to know when and what was shot and the location. This is voluntary, but would be appreciated.
Q. May I hunt out of a ground blind?
A. All our ordinances state that you must be in an elevated position for hunting so you are shooting at the ground. Safety is our main concern in Village neighborhoods. Please keep this in mind where you are hunting.
Q. Can I hunt in any parks?
A. At this time you are NOT allowed to hunt in any park or Village owned property. You are able to go onto any Village-owned property to remove any shot animal.
Q. Can I use bait to attract deer?
A. You can only bait deer in the Village if you are hunting. Village ordinance prohibits feeding of deer except for hunting/culling purposes.
Q. What weapon can I use?
A. You can only use any legal bow, compound bow or crossbow as identified in the State of Wisconsin’s archery regulations.
Q. Can I use a gun to hunt in the Village?
