Paid-On-Call
The Public Safety Department is enhanced by a compliment of 25 paid-on-call Firefighter and EMT/Paramedics. This group of men and women are trained and perform firefighting and emergency medical duties at the same level as our full-time officers.
The paid-on-call personnel (POCs) operate two engine companies based out of the Ponderosa Avenue Station. The station, vehicles, and equipment are maintained by the POC personnel.
The POCs may also assist with staffing during home Green Bay Packer football games and provide EMT services at Resch Center events. In addition, the POC staff are involved in many public education and civic activities. The POCs assist in Fire Prevention Week and National Night Out events, and at Ashwaubenon High School Homecoming activities. The POC personnel are proud to be involved in both the safety and civic pride of the community.
The paid-on-call personnel meet the first and third Monday evenings of the month. There is a general business meeting prior to each training meeting which cover various Fire and EMS topics. All meetings conclude with a work detail of station and vehicle maintenance.
The hiring process for paid-on-call personnel is through the establishment of an eligibility list. The eligibility list is compiled by the submission of an application and may include an oral interview, physical agility test, and background check. POC openings are then filled from the eligibility list. No prior experience is required to be considered for employment.
Openings will be posted on the Village website as they become available.
