Property found within Ashwaubenon must be reported to law enforcement.

The Ashwaubenon Department of Public Safety posts lost/found property, as defined in Wis Stats. 170, on this webpage and in the Village Hall lobby. Use the link below to search found property currently being held by the Department.

If you believe property listed below is yours, please contact the Evidence Technician at 920.593.4479.

  • You must be able to provide proof that the property is in fact yours.
  • You must be able to give a timeframe and location of where the property was lost.

If you would like to try to claim property that you found, please complete the found property claim form and return to Ashwaubenon Department of Public Safety within 5 days of when you turned the property in.

As defined under Municipal Code 2-8-768, found property is handled pursuant to the authority of Chapter 170, Wis Stats. and will hold the property for a period of 90 days at which time it will then be treated as abandoned and treated under the authority of Wis Stat 66.0139.

170.07 Lost chattels, notice. Except as provided in ss. 170.05 and 170.12, if a person finds $25 or more or any goods having a value of at least $25 but less than $100, and if the owner of the money is unknown, the finder shall, within five (5) days after finding the money or goods, give a written notice (provided below) of the found money or goods to the law enforcement agency of the city, village or town in which the money or goods are found. That law enforcement agency shall post a notice of the found money or goods in two public places (i.e., on-line and lobby of agency) in the city, village, or town.

170.08 Notice and appraisal. Except as provided in ss. 170.105 and 170.12, the finder of lost goods having a value of $100 or more shall give a written notice of the found goods to the law enforcement agency of the city, village, or town in which the goods are found within 15 days after finding the goods and cause a class 2 notice under ch. 985 of the found goods to be published in the county.


Evidence Return Procedures

An appointment is required to retrieve your property. Property will not be available for pick up without an appointment with Evidence.  Appointments are available Mondays-Friday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.  Contact the Evidence Technician 920.593.4479 to set up a time to retrieve your property.

Evidence is returned when:

  • The case is closed through the courts.
  • You have been notified it can be returned by an Investigator.
  • You have received a post card with a notice to pick up your property.

If the property owner is unable to pick up their own property, a notarized letter authorizing a 3rd party to pick up property on their behalf is required.

Parents of children under 18 who own the property do not need authorization.
